35 lbs, 3500 calories in 1lb, and a year from today (365 days). You're looking at eating an extra 335 calories per day over maintenence (if bulking truely works the opposite of cutting). That could be a pretty clean bulk, I'd think, since it would be only like .67lb/week in added mass.

Try starting with 3000 per day, if you gain too much fat/not enough weight, then adjust as necessary by 200 calories. For instance, if you gain 3 lbs. a week, then you are most likely putting on a good amount of fat, so cut the calories down to 2800 and see how it goes. If you continue to gain too much weight then cut the calories down some more again. 1 lb/week is pretty much a good sign that you're putting on mostly muscle and minimal fat. That's what I do. If you want to gain weight faster then you have to eat a lot more calories, but you will add more fat though.

Keep it simple.

1. Eat
2. Don't ever let yourself get hungry
3. If you get hungry, refer to #1

As long as you stay active and condition, you'll be fine. It's really as simple as people say. Eat. No secrets here.

3,500 kcals are in a pound of fat.. but, 2,000 - 2,500 kcals make up a pound of only lbm because of the water. Besides that, people are limited to how much muscle can be put on in a given day. So most simple calorie formulas just dont cut it.

The best way would be to eat what youre eating now and try adding 500 calories. Tracking everything you eat also helps. It lets you know where youre at and how many calories youll need to add to keep gaining weight.

you need to not cap calories and just eat until you can't anymore keep it clean though you do not to need to gain fat depending on your goals
