Well, I would like to say that I'm not a powerlifter but a weightlifter at that. Im not going for huge size or trying to be able to lift a lot of weight because I am young still. Im trying to tone. Ive been toning for a month now and heres where Im at.

Age:16
Height: 6'0"
Weight: 150 lbs
Body Fat %: 15%
Goal: More tone, less body fat
Calorie Intake on a normal diet day, 1500-1600, trying to lose body fat.
Supplements: Drank Muscle Milk and Whey Protein at same time during the summer, now I am taking just 100% Whey Protein, EAS is the brand.

No Flex:

Best I could do for now.

Lifting Statistics:

Bench Press Max: 145
Tricept Push Down Machine Max: 190 Pounds
Peck Deck Machine Max: 200 Pounds

Those are the only things I have maxed out on.

I do have a routine for my arms that if you guys must see, I can type all that up if needed.

Right now I think I need to work on my core (Abs)

I have been told I have a lot of potential for later years.

I also think I need a bigger calorie intake (I keep an excel journal)
- What do you guys eat/drink for a lot of calories?

Comments/Critique/Routines are greatly appreciated

-Adam

I see in your signature it says "higher weight, less body fat". While gaining weight you will also add fat, you can't get around it. You need to eat and lift and not worry about losing body fat. It's your decision but I wouldn't worry about having visual abs as much as I would be worried about putting on weight in order to gain mass. My advice would be to bulk up to 180-190lbs. then consider cutting your calorie intake in order to lose body fat. Search the forum for beginner routines and stick with one for a while. You need to eat big to get big

So Bulk before Cut?

So Bulk before Cut?

Yes you need to eat and lift. Figure out how many calories your body burns in a typical day and keep your calorie intake count 400-800 above that #. I use www.fitday.com to track my daily food intake. Take in plenty of protein and don't eat a bunch of crappy foods in order to keep your fat gain to a minimum during your bulk.

Search the forum, there are plenty of guides on what and how much to eat in order to gain weight

LMFAO!! Success!!

The last word you ever need to use is tone(you should actually eliminate it from your vocabulary). You are young and thin. Take advantage of this time to put on quality size. Eat more, train hard and the gains will come. You should not be "maxing" on the pec deck or tricep pushdowns either. You prob shouldn't even do them. Learn the basic lifts and get stronger on them...squats, deadlift, bench, OH presses, rows, chins, etc.

Man if you get any skinnier you'll look like Christian Bale from The Machinist. Squat, Deadlift, Bench and eat.

seriously? Im eating 1800/day and losing 2lbs/week.

Triple what youre eating now, and stop doing pec deck and tricep pushdown, and squat, deadlift, bench, OH Press, row, chins, dips and eat.

I would gain a quality 25-30 pounds before you lost weight as others have suggested. Make sure not to gain more than 2 or so pounds a week or you'll have gained more fat than necessary. The better your bulk is, the less time you have to spend dieting off the extra fat. Trust me on this. I gained too much fat on my bulk and I've had to spend 3 months so far losing it. And I'm probably going to be good around February LOL

Thanksgiving just passed, ate a lot. Only bad thing I did was drink soda which I think is excess calories. At thanksgiving I ate Turkey, Rolls, Mashed Potatoes, Carrots, Corn, Grapes, Hashbrown Caserole ( Hashbrowns, cheese, sour cream, corn flakes ), and some little stuff.

Going to try and stay away from the soda.

Past week, I went up almost 20-30 pounds in more routine, idk if that is because I was on a plateau and my gains just skyrocketed or if its because I am eating more. I started squating at my gym. It is not a free weight squat rack its a machine with pulleys. Right now im just trying to get the form down. I am also started to bench a lot more. Now using plates at reps of 3 for a first set and on a last set a rep of 1. I want to get that up to 8 reps in about 2-3 weeks or so.

I didnt see anyone else catch this but... I believe you stated you had a routine for your arms, please, use this time to do squats (with free weights, machine squats are very deceptive and they will not in any way help you with form). Do not worrie about getting fat, your really skinny, young, and you have a lot of room to grow so eat alot. Soda is a bad idea as it causes heart disease, and diet soda is worse for you then regular soda. Go to the stickies and read Starting Strength.

Adam,

When I first started reading your thread I thought "oh hell another newbie looking for attention". I was wrong. You have some obvious misconceptions but you have the right attitude. You are here which is a major step and you are handling everyones advice and criticism well.

When I started out I read articles for a couple hours a day, before I would work out, for the first few months. It takes a lot of time but it saves you even more time in the long run as your gains will vary immensely based on how you exercise.

These Guys and Gals are incredible and they will continue to help you if they see their advice is making a difference....but read up some more so they can give you the tips instead of teaching you the basics that are already in other threads.

Ditch the word tone, even if it was a word we acknowledged, you can't tone bone. The only word you need to have in your head is BULK.

As for your initial comment "Im not going for huge size or trying to be able to lift a lot of weight because I am young still." you are in a site titled WANNABEBIG. We will forgive your comments if you quickly adapt the attitude. As for being young....The best age/time to start is NOW!!!!
