Hi Guys and Gals! I'm going to California on the 1st of August, it's going to be my very first time going abroad, and I would like some travel tips and a holiday check list hints? So far, I've made a check list on what I'm taking with me (all the essentials), can you all add some other stuff?

don't bring any sort of bomb-making supplies packed in your luggage. they'll hold you up in customes for hours.
ditto on narcotics.
ditto on small animals.
ok, seriously....i don't know what you mena exactly....that's a wide open question.....what type of tips are you wanting?

oh i've got a really good tip.....
when crossing the street in the US look LEFT as well as right. we drive on the wrong side of the road here. ;)
California is a big state, more like 3 states in one. Where will you be in California, north, south or mountains? They all have different requirements. The requirement they all have in common is cash - lots of cash.

I dunno, maybe I get a tad paranoid, but when I travel abroad (from the USA), I usually get the minimal health coverage in case something happens in the foreign country that I'm in. Something like $30 or so (maybe less), the local Liberty Travel here does that for you, dunno about England tho'
I know of someone who recently was stuck in France because during the vacation the guy had to have emergency surgery on his back for something, and when you don't have insurance to cover this, you're dead....
Narinder, you'll also notice that the toilets in the US flush better than the ones in England! ;)

Don't do anything stupid, like yell "hey, ese" at a group of hispanics.

Pack a nice kevlar vest...they are in style in cali...
Avoid bars with the words "blue" or "oyster" in the name, or any bars with more obvious names such as "The Manhole".
Buy me a crate of Beringer wine and ship it to me. :)
