I have to agree check the cartoon and what size. Your not going to find the egg white protein on the cartoon though. I rember reading a egg white has 3.5 g protein not sure what size, assume large, your losing 1/2 your protein. I used to seperate whites now I don't bother I want all the protein I can get. A little fat won't kill ya.

how many calories are in an egg?

Look on the box same with everything else you eat.

1 egg white has 3.46 grams protein.
1 whole egg has 6.12 grams protein, and 6.05 grams of fat.

Those numbers are for a medium egg by the way. Personally I like the jumbo.

Just looked my medium eggs have 6g of protein and 4 grams of fat. I have seen egg powder with with 6 and 6. Like I said its best to check the box.

I think the liquified egg whites I used to use worked out to about 5g of protein per "egg" which was supposed to be a medium egg. According to fitday.com one medium, uncooked whole egg had 5.5g protein....

its totally going to depend on the manufacturer though, how they rate them, etc.. I'd just shoot for about 5-6g for a medium whole egg, and 3.5-4.5 for a medium egg white if you're going to be counting up the grams for your diet..

i hear from a lot of people that too much whole egg (the yolk) is bad for you..

myth ?

11-06-2002, 02:51 PM
Are you referring to the cholesterol content of the yolk? There has been no link to dietary cholesterol and the blood cholesterol levels in your body.

besides that... i hear people say all the time that too much yolk is bad for you.

are they all stupid or is thre some truth to that (besides fat + cholesterol)

I to am hesitant about eating too many yolks in one day. I usually eat two a day, no reason other than always hearing people tell me too many are bad for you. Here is an article that might shed a little light on the subject
