it is always written that when your muscles are very hydrated, it increases the potential for them to work adequately during workouts. Therefore increases your chance for muscle growth.
For me, I avoid creatine all together because of the side affects of stomach bloating.
I was 162 lbs. 2 weeks ago with glutamine. I've been taking 15 g of glutamine/day. I jumped to 169 in know time.
I don't know what to say to those to think glutamine is a waste of money. My trainer thinks that they are essential.
He told me he gained 30 lbs. in 5 months with glutamine.
This is the biggest I have ever been. I think it was worth it.

I highly doubt glutamine was the only thing that made you gain the weight. I gaurantee it.

Gain 30lbs I can believe...all of it muscle...I don't believe...gains a result of glutamine...well...hahah...can't happen. Glutamine supping has more of an effect if you are on a cutting diet. If you are bulking, which when someone gains 30lbs you'd assume they are...they'd be getting ample glutamine from other sources, thus the marginal difference glutamine had would not account for anything. Well maybe 3-6 ounces. ;)
Just remember it ain't that easy to just add lean muscle mass. Make sure you are weighing yourself at the same time everyday on the same scale, preferably in the morning on an empty stomach. Water retention can also cause weight to fluctuate. I usually look at my weight as +/- 3-5 lbs if I ever do weigh myself.
Glutamine can be beneficial to muscle preservation in times where catabolism might be a problem (Post workout, first thing AM, before bed). But it's not gonna pack on 30 lbs of mass by just taking it and working out, LOL. That's not to say it won't help to a significant degree.
I am a fan of Glutamine, helped me tons when I was dieting.

Although people may think it is a load of crap.
I am @ 169 lbs. right now from 162 with the glutamine.
It is a battle everytime to gain lean muscle mass. It seems like the reason why many people who workout forever still look the same year after year is that when they take 2 steps forwards, they immediately take two steps back from poor dieting, lack of nutrition, bad training, etc....
Glutamine seems to slow down the catabolic processes that happen at night to your muscle. I guess it is the nitrogen retention part of it. Adding 15 g. of glutamine before bed seems to minimize muscle breakdown. I don't know about u guys out there, but I feel fuller, more pumped, and more lean than ever.
It definitely helped me break my plateau.
As for my trainer gaining 30 lbs.? He was 190 , added creatine and the glutamine for about 5 months. He hit 220 @ month 5.
He didn't use them at the same time until the 3 month when he added glutamine into his diet. It just catapulted him to 220.

It's not the glutamine.

So the 7 lbs. from 162 to 169 had nothing to do with glutamine?
uhmm.....I must be genetically gifted.

Let me ask ya this.
Does glutamine allow for muscles to retain more water?
if so, Retaining more water in muscles is good right?
Why not take glutamine.
It enhances recovery. Yes.
With a proper diet, there is no need because you will recover just fine. Why not? Because with a proper diet the money spent supplementing with this is far more significant than the gains you'll see.

Actually, I joined a hip-hop dance class to throw in cardio into my routine twice a week. Couldn't be the food. I was probably burning more calories those weeks.
Got to be the glutamine.
OK then why are you asking us?
Nevermind. You're telling us. But hey, be it as it will. Opinions are like *******s. Everyone's stinks but mine.
... Wait, doesn't go like that.

I'm just implying that many people on this forum really don't give glutamine enough credit. I'd say everyone should try supplementing 15 g. per day and see what happens.
Let's put it this way. It's a supplement, not a necessity. If it were necessary to make those gains, it would have never been dubbed a SUPPLEMENT in the first place. Creatine will do the same thing as far as volumizing.
Yes it enhances recovery. (When you're dieting.)
Yes it is a good product. (When you may need it.)
NO you do not need it when eating enough calories, because you should be in anabolic mode almost 24/7 with as little fat gain as possible.
Believe me, I've tried it. There is nothing significant about it unless you are in heavy caloric defecit.

Congrats on your gains.
It wasn't the glutamine, though.

If glutimine were that great it would be a "best seller".
It works , as to how effective, that will range between individuals.
