View Full Version : Going Camping... what food?

I'm going camping for 4 days this long weekend. I'm on a heavy bulking diet right now trying to take in 3000+ calories a day of mostly clean food. I'll have a barbeque handy so I'm thinking about bringing a bunch of chicken breasts and hamburgers. Other than that the only thing I planned to bring was 4 liters of milk, 4 gallons of water, a load of a nutrigrain bars and a loaf of bread.
What are some things I could bring to eat? Basically everything has to be ready made, or be grilled.
And in all honesty, I'll probably be drunk 90% of the time, so nothing too complicated. This is the one of the 3 or 4 times a year that I actually drink.

PS, 3000 is maintenance for most people, 4k+ would be a bulk
I'd say just make sure you're at eating at least "some" protein. Use this weekend as a break from your normal bodybuilding diet and eat what you want. You will most likely come back even more focused than before.

Bear in mind that the alcohol will halt protein synthesis so there's no need to worry too much about things. Just ensure you're eating enough to prevent catabolism.

I weigh 132lbs right now, 3000 calories a day is giving me almost a pound a week.
I'm hoping to just maintain my weight over the weekend. I'll be hitting the gym right before I leave so its really only a 3 day break from lifting.
I guess I should bring a bunch of fruits and vegetables too...
If you're binge drinking for a weekend, I hardly think you should be so concerned about the rest of your diet. I'm not saying don't drink, just loosen up for the weekend.

its gonna be hard to bulk at 3k cals (ur 132lbs, i dont' think its necessary to eat that much, i was 132lbs before) on a cmaping trip, unless u are one of those guys who bring a RV w/ fridge w/ directv to "camp" w/:)

How many calories should I be taking in daily at 132lbs? I'm 5' 7" 21 years old (although I look like I'm 15).
I'll be the MC of the barbeque for the majority of the weekend, and I brought a load of other food. I should have no problem getting 3k calories a day.

Hate to say this but alcohol is your worst enemy. A lot of info out there, here is one article: Alcohol (http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/bbinfo.php?page=Alcohol) , If you are trying to put on healthy weight and increase strength, stay away from booze. One of the hardest things I do is pass on the beers after hockey or softball. It really is detrimental to training. Right now I try and stick to a six pack a weekend on my cheat day (gonna blow it this weekend, May24). Have a good time and don't worry too much about it.

Have a good time. Just eat normally. Few burgers, brats ect. eat when you hungry. I wouldn't bother trying to stuff yourself.
4 days won't kill you.

camping? Staple camping foods include bacon, eggs, and beans.. along with alot of toast.

The tuna in the pouch would be good and empties take up less room. If your driving in not an issue.

Bring a big jar of Natty PB w/ a double loaf of WW. :)
Some MRP's or Protein bars may be key as well.
