Chest. Monday June 7

Dumbbell Press: 120x8,130x6,130x7
Incline Bench: 225x10,255x7,275x6

Haven't been arround in a long, long time. For those who were wondering, I've been battling injuries for the past two years but I've kept training, just haven't kept the journal up to date.

So I'm starting a new journal. Glad to be back.

First week back to flat dumbbells and incline barbell. Didn't go too bad. Would like to get DB's up to 140's in a couple of weeks and incline bench to 295.

I've dealt with the following injuries:

Severe inflamation in both elbows twice. First time I had stopped all upper body training for 10 months.

L6 disc slipped twice. Almost a year apart to the day.

Sprained wrist.

Two muscle puuls in my left shoulder.

Ouch. Question, were these injuries due from lifting? Are you still in pain? Had surgeries?

I don't do any french presses, extensions or pushdowns for triceps. This will aggrevate my elbows. I will prolly have this for life :bang:

Everything else is great. Chiropractor fixed my back. Shoulder and wirst got better on their own.

The elbows, back and shoulder were training related. Elbows and back could have been prevented but the shoulder was out of the blue.

Good workout and good progress from last week.

Legs. Wednesday June 9

Front Squats: 295x8,315x5,315x4,395x1
Leg Extensions: 255x13,255x12,255x12
Standing Leg Curl: 90x11,100x8,110x5
Calf Raise on leg press: 580x10,670x10
Seated Calf Raise: 210x9,230x7,250x4

Got 10 more pounds for a single on front squat. Coming close to my PB. Increase in curls and calf raise. Tried calves on the leg press and it wasn't very good. The leg press has seen better days and the foam in the back of the seat is worn out and i feels like its bare steel so I got off that.

Looking to pass 405 for a single on front squats and improve my working sets in the next few weeks.

Spider Row is a plate loaded machine similar to a T-bar but with a pad that you lie on.

Congrats on the 395! That's some damn nice lifting. I guess my tbar row is actually a spider row ... but spider row sounds ******ed so I will continue calling it a tbar row. :D

Barbell Shrug: 225x12,315x8,345x6

Got my creatine today.

Great workout. Been back training shoulders for 3 weeks and I'm already back to my PB for press (that was done a couple of years ago). Might be able to get the 130's soon. Haven't done BB shrugs in awhile so I was just getting a feel for them this week.

Damn nice work, 120's = now THERE is some insane pressing.......awesome effort!

how do you do side lateral raises? I do them with my legs shoulder width, but I see some people do them with feet together......

Back to hammer curls and spider curls. Just seeing what I'm going to be using, forgot my book. 1 rep shy of matching my PB on close grips.

Made some great progress tonight. Hoping to reach 315 on incline bench soon.

Side note: There was a forest fire about 6-7 miles form my place. The water bombers were filling up at the head pond and then they would circle around and I could see them right out the gym window. They looked no more than a few hundred feet off the ground.

Last set of close grip was too heavy. Wide grips weren't great. I can't get any progress on it.

Good work on the bench, glad to see you getting back to what you used to be lifting. Nice incline bench especially where you just got done with the 140's. Keep upt the work and get to those 150's.

Still won't help when we make you puke with GPP.

Good front squats. Went for 405 and missed it. First time I missed a max attempt. Seated calf raise felt light tonight.

Yeah they are tough to get started. I actually had trouble this week with the 110's. I missed getting the left side up and struggled to get started.

Man, I've never been stronger on db presses as I was this week. Incline didn't get the same progress but I did get an extra rep on the last set.

Going to cut the weight back on the Spider Row. It was abit too heavy. I will prolly start at 225 and increase by 15lbs.

Not training legs this week. Had to go to the chiropractor. I tweeked my back abit last week during squats. :bang:

The first set of shoulder press was good but after that I was just exhausted so I called it quits for shoulder press.

Chiropractor went well and I think I'll be doing legs agin this week.

Still moving up. I've never been this strong on these exercises. I could have had 9 reps second set. I will try for that next week.

An-Tron, I plan on doing the same routine but may lighten up on the weight for front squats. I feel great right now and I will be going to the chiropractor again Tuesday night.

Energy level wasn't great. Went for a 2 hour bike ride with the brother-in-law. What a dumb idea. Well my mountain bike is just a tangled ball of metal now in my backyard. :bang:

I went for 3 pps for incline bench and got it. I've been talking to An-tron about some things on benching like keeping my lats tight and bringing my shoulder blades together and it work well on the 315 attempt on incline.

Where did you mangle your bike? A friend of mine tore his leg up pretty bad when we went out by the dam (the old resevoir?). Nice work on the incline, foo!! Now GTFOMB!!

Dropped lat pullups this week. They've been bothering my biceps and forearms to the point where the pain is abit too much. The lat pulldown felt good and corellated well with the pullups as far as weight goes. Spider rows were for sh!t, not happy about those. By the time I got to close grip pullups I was dead. I will be dropping spider rows next week for incline dumbbell rows. I have been doing spider rows for awhile so time for a change.

Close grip pullups sucked :mad:. I am switching to close grip pulldowns next week, I've been doing the pullups for awhile now so its time to change. The bench rows felt awesome, good squeeze and extension.

Did the Maki challenge and got 18 reps. Not bad, I was shooting for 20. Got hard to breathe at the end. Supersetted extensions with curls and seated with standing. Threw in the standing as an experiment.

Switched to seated military press this week. First time I ever did this so I was kind of checking out what I could do for weight. Not bad, I think I can get the 225 for 10 for set 1 next week. Lateral raises are getting strong and good form.

First week back to going heavier since my latest back problem. Started wearing a belt for front squats. I'm happy with the effort. Stopped short on calf raises. Got a wicked cramp and it wouldn't go away.

Alke, I think that could be the problem. Its the bottom of the rep that feels awkward, like my arms don't have the room to come down further to my sides.

Branton, you come to Moncton? I'd have to see it to believe it ;). If you do bring AnTron along.

Chest. Tuesday Aug 3

Bench Press challenge: 245x19
Bench Press: 315x9,335x5,335x4,365x1,385x1
Incline Dumbbell Press: 110x10,120x8,130x5

I did the bench challenge and got 245 for 19 reps. Not bad, thought I could get 25 before I tried. I went ahead and tried my normal workout after that and was surprised I was able to get some decent results. Went for a single at 365 with no problem at all. Tried 385 and the same thing. Next week I'll try to becnh my PR of 405 then maybe do one more single at 415 if all goes well with 405.
