i had a good benching session yesterday, and am pretty sore..... i want to box, which will definitely work my chest, for maybe 15 minutes, but am worried i'll mess with my chest's recovery. reasonable worry?

I was in the same situation back when I took Muay Thai. Honestly, I don't think 15 minutes of light bag time would be too detrimental, but if you're more than a little sore, hold off. Rotate bag work to a better day like after squats or something. Maybe even try using the bag as a warm-up for bench day? Just a suggestion.
Since when is benching a chest exercise?
