John Davis competed from 1937 to 1956, starting in the 181 pound class and eventually working up to a bodyweight of 233 pounds. Even though his carear was interupted by the second world war, Davis still managed to win two Olympic Gold Medals, setting 24 world records in process, including the total, the snatch, the press and the clean and jerk. In fact, Davis was the first man in history to C&J 400 pounds.

Davis' best lifts, according to Dinosaur Training, were:
Clean and Press: 375 (1.61 x BW)
Squat: 550 x 3, 525 x 8, 500 x 10 (2.59 x BW)
Deadlift: 705 (3.03 x BW)
Bench Press: 425 (1.82 x BW)
One-Hand Snatch: 215
Strict Barbell Curl: 215 (1.11 x BW)
Strict DB Curl: 103
DB Clean and Press: 284 (142 per hand)

This guy was a beast and he pre-dated the steriod error. All of his lifts were unassisted, no gear of ANY kind.

I'd also like to add that the Squat was Olympic style, high bar, narrow stance ass to the grass. The bench press was done without uprights!
