According to Rob Faigin from an Ask Rob article- "Just because one IS NOT in ketosis does not mean one IS NOT burning bodyfat; and just because one IS in ketosis does not mean one IS burning bodyfat. The only thing that a purple ketone stick signifies is that fat is being burned in a low-carb environment. Whether the fat burned derives from bodyfat or food (or a percentage of each) is not evident from the result of a ketone test. And just as the presence of ketones in the urine does not prove that bodyfat is being burned, the absence of ketones in the urine does not prove that bodyfat is being burned. The higher one's muscle/fat ratio, the more difficult it is to turn a ketone stick purple."

Pharmacy or some GNC's carry them.

irish mike-
Anyway no I have not been tested for ketosis. I highly doubt that I am in ketosis. I dont think that 3 days or so without carbs can put anyone into too severe of ketosis. I mean by my 3rd or 4th day without carbs I maybe mildly in ketosis but its not effecting me at all.

eating 30-60 g of carbs/day will keep you out of ketosis

Then again it depends on how strictly you follow Rob's recommendations. Sometimes, often, I dont go up to 30g of carbs per day. I mean I am sure I do sometimes but I think I stay around 10-15g for the most part.

Also if Equal or fiber in peanut butter or anything like that kick you or keep you out of ketosis then I am definitely not in it!
